Welcome to BreadBeard, the very “Micro Bakery” that I run from my home in Torbay, South Devon.

I love to bake sourdough bread. Sourdough only contains 3 ingredients. Flour, water and salt. It really doesn’t get much more simple than that! Proper food made with love and care.

I currently bake white and light malt sourdough loaves three times a week. Loaves are baked for collection on Mondays and Wednesdays, with delivery available by bicycle (subject to location) on Fridays. I bake exclusively to order to avoid waste, with a typical waiting list of about a week. In addition to my regular loaves. I also make a very indulgent chocolate sourdough loaf, and also occasionally make special bakes, such as hot cross buns, cinnamon bread and focaccia (subject to availability).

I am not a supermarket or giant bread factory. All of my bread is made by hand, and as such, not all loaves look the same. Sourdough is a natural live culture that I encourage to grow by feeding and then make into dough. All of my loaves turn out slightly differently. This is part of the magic of hand-made sourdough. Each loaf is a unique character.
